Description
The Southern Cross, the plane flown across the Pacific in 1928 by Charles Kingsford Smith and Charles Ulm with Harry Lyon of Paris Hill as navigator and American James Warner as radioman, is enshrined at the Brisbane Airport Museum in Queensland, Australia on the 30th anniversary of the historic flight.
The plane and crew of four flew from Oakland, California, to Hawaii, then to Fiji and on to Australia in the first trans-Pacific flight.
The Fokker tri-motor was adapted to carry a huge amount of fuel for the flight.
